Scott's Hot Stone Massage

Scott Hatch uses stones made of basalt, a type of rock that is rich in iron, so they retain heat.  The river rocks have been smoothed over time by the water’s current, and provide a soothing surface for compressing, displacing and gliding over muscles.

Hot StonesHeated smooth, flat stones are placed on key points like the palms of the hands, along the spine and between the toes to improve the flow of energy in the body. Stones are used to massage the major muscle groups of the back, neck and shoulders, arms, legs, hands and feet with pressure that is tailored to each client.

Scott can work very deep with this treatment, so you will need to express the amount of pressure you find comfortable.

Penetrating Heat
This massage is also suitable for those individuals who prefer a lighter massage, but need depth. The heat from the stones relaxes muscles and often increases an individual's tolerance of pressure, which can make it feel quite gentle in comparison with a standard deep tissue massage session. The heat of the stones helps muscles release more quickly than in traditional massage, and you will feel it penetrate through layers of tissue, deep into your bones.

Deep Tissue
For clients who prefer a deeper massage, stones can be “ironed” with penetrating pressure to release areas such as the quadriceps, where layers of muscle fibers commonly adhere to surrounding tissues. Narrow stones guided between bones softens tissue deep in the anatomy - for example, along the metacarpals of the hands to help with carpal tunnel syndrome, or between the ribs to release intercostal tissue (which makes breathing easier!).

A Stone Massage Session is 75 minutes and costs $80.
