Scott Hatch
Scott draws on
a lifelong involvement in athletics
and performance to
inform his massage practice. He has been an endurance athlete for
19
years, having competed in hundreds of triathlons, cycling
events, ski races, and running races. Scott enjoys bringing
massage to larger communities, regularly speaking with athletic teams
and performance groups.
Scott's work and training has given him the experience to provide massage for various
worldwide productions, taking him backstage at performances by artists such as:
- Cirque du Soleil
- Blue Man Group
Scott has provided massage at a variety of events, including:
- University of Minnesota: "A Healing Touch," an event organized by AHC Multicultural Society to help medical, nursing, and dental students reduce anxiety and Ace their exams.
- Best of the US Triathlon Championships
- SCS Multisport Base Camp
- SCS Ironman Wisconsin Camp
- American Heart Association/American Stroke
Association - Scott provided hundreds of massages for many marathoners
over 4 seasons of a team training program.
Scott
became a believer in the power of massage when he discovered the
benefits of therapeutic bodywork first-hand 20 years ago.
Scott has relied on massage to keep
him healthy and injury-free since running cross-country and track in high school.
Scott is passionate
about wellness and fitness. He has raced 12 Birkebeiner
ski marathons, and in 2008, he finished in 2 hours and 48
minutes.
Tai-Chi has been a regular part of Scott's training for 16 years.
Scott has held positions as
Nordic
Skiing Head Coach at The Blake School and Assistant Coach at Patrick
Henry High School, and has taught swimming classes at the
Blaisdell YMCA.
Scott took the
scenic route to massage therapy.
He studied Philosophy and English at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison, started an internet company in 1995, worked in the
private sector for 8 years, returned
to school for the M.Ed. program at the University of Minnesota and
taught high school English. He founded Quantum Massage Works in
2004. Though he enjoyed the path that led him to bodywork, massage is by far Scott's favorite work.
